Daniela Arias Gallego

Colombian violinist Daniela Arias started her violin studies at the National Conservatory in Bogota-Colombia, at age 7. Upon finishing her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance at the National University of Colombia, she went on to play and tour in different orchestras, like the Youth Philharmonic of Colombia and Youth Philharmonic of Bogota, and in some of Colombia’s major orchestras, like the National Symphony, Bogota Philharmonic, and Medellin Philharmonic.

 

In 2005, She went to the United States to study a Master’s in Chamber Music with her String quartet, with professors from the Miami String Quartet, at Kent State University. After graduating, she decided to pursuit a second Master’s degree in Violin Performance at Ohio University, where she played as part of the string quartet in residence, the Klinder String Quartet, and won the Soloist Concerto Competition performing Carmen Fantasy by Sarasate with the Orchestra.

Daniela has worked and played in several orchestras since living in the U.S., including CityMusic Chamber Orchestra in Cleveland, Akron Symphony, and Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra, as well as maintaining an active career as a chamber musician.

​

Her experience as a violin instructor is extensive. She started teaching small kids at age 15 and has since worked at several music schools and academies, as well as maintaining private students throughout her whole career, sharing her knowledge and love for the violin with students of all ages, from small children to adults in their retirement age. 

​

Currently she is coursing her DMA at the University of Maryland, as the studio assistant of Prof. Irina Muresanu. She leads the studio and teaches lessons to the Master’s students when the professor is touring and performing out of town.
